Guess What We did for Family Home Evening... 02/21/2012
Before I get into the exciting adventures of this weekend culminating in Monday night's activities, let me first say, thank you to those of you with great ideas on how to straighten Robert's back. I'm sure they will be invaluable to him. So the last 3 days have been kind of crazy. Saturday Robert woke up very early in the morning with signs of some type of stomach flu or bad food. He was sick all day Saturday hardly eating anything and all day Sunday he was still sleeping a lot and feeling yucky. He's starting to do a little better though and Monday he went to work and even went for a run Monday after work, which is when I decided to join the fun. I didn't get whatever was bothering his intestines, but I did find some different form of excitement. About dinner time I discovered I was bleeding. I wasn't sure what to do at first. I decided to call the OB/GYN's office and was told in the message, based on what week I was that I needed to go to the ER to get checked out. We spent 2.5 hour in the ER getting blood tests and an ultrasound. The good news is the heartbeat is good and the baby was moving a little. They said they couldn't see the source of the bleeding in the ultrasound which is most likely a hemoraging blah, blah, blah (something I can't remember) but that it might show up in an ultrasound in a few days. I'm supposed to keep an eye on the bleeding (which is light ...hopefully it will end soon) and check in with the Doctor in a couple of days. Oh, and because I was bleeding they gave me an Rho (D) Immuno Globulin shot, since my blood type is negative and Robert's is positive (thus the baby's blood could be Rh-positive and my body could create antibodies to fight the baby's blood). The shot keeps that from happening. (I think that's how it works). 99% Positive I don't want you to get the wrong impression. Things are not bad around here. They are mostly great. Robbie has, give or take this weekend, been feeling pretty good and we are enjoying life. Below are some pictures from Valentine's day last week, which was really nice. In other good news, the Ultrasound tech confirmed what the doctor thought last week at our ultrasound that there was a good chance we were having a BOY. I mentioned to the tech that on our last visit the doctor said not to quote her yet on the gender, but in this ultrasound the tech said that he's 99% positive that it's a boy. So we are excited that we are going to have a son and if not our daughter might be in the 1% that works on Wall Street while her friends camp in parks and protest. The only thing that makes me nervous is that the last 2 ultrasounds they keep saying the baby is older than it is based on it's size (anywhere from a few days to over a week older than the pregnancy), which isn't possible given that we know the exact day of conception from IVF meaning this baby could be a big baby. Good thing I have those childbearing hips. Also, I should mention, last night I got a priesthood blessing from Robert that helped put my mind at ease concerning the baby. I am so thankful to be able to get one when I needed it and am ever grateful for the Lord's healing power in our lives! CommentsTammy Van Orden 02/21/2012 7:44am
Wow! That is crazy early to be finding out the gender. How exciting! We'll make sure that Aayla and Clarissa(?) don't exclude him at family functions. :)

Hi from Illinois. Carey, take it easy and rest when you can! Robert will be an awesome father to a son, or a daughter if that is the case. Let us know what the follow-up with the Doctor says in a few. Praying for you today for renewed strength and oversight for good health for all of you. Love you,

Hope you've been able to take it easy after your eventful evening last night. I have a negative blood type too (Graham is positive) and both Dylan and Claire have negative blood. Still had the shot though. Love your valentine for Robbie. Very creative.
